Would you still believe if there were no reward in the afterlife
by donny insome months ago i was listening to a co-worker witnessing to some others about why he believes and why they should to.
as i listened i kept hearing over and over about the "rewards" of eternal life in heaven in the kingdom of god.
later on we had a conversation that went like this.. me: can i ask you a question about your beliefs?.

You're right Donny they wouldn't. Most religious people talk fondly about the rewards they'll receive for doing what they're "supposed" to do. i.e. entering the pearly gates, new world, etc.

I've had panic attacks all of my life. They are terrible to deal with and can have a few causes. Have her research panic and anxiety attacks. She is going to have to discover what works for her. May need to implement a combination of strategies

DO you follow any of these quacks, charlatans, liars, mystics or self-promoters?

A few of these "experts" actually helped me expand my thinking beyond WT. But as I continued to figure out why I was taken in by the cult for so long (I was a born-in and took it too seriously) I realized a pattern in the way I cope with life and have put down a lot of this type of reading. I'm always looking for ways to improve my coping skills. I l think it is good when anyone can help us think outside of the box, no matter how they do it. Just don't waste a bunch of money on their books, sign them out of the library instead.
Terry who do you go to for advice?

If you are suicidal get help asap. If you're depressed get help asap. But whatever do continue to stand up for yourself. If your mom is wrong she's wrong and there is nothing wrong with you standing up to her and saying so.

Yeah we're expected to believe in and worship God unconditionally, but if you eat a piece of fruit from a tree he cuts you off forever.

Converstaion Stoppers, do they really work?
by Mall Cop inremember, the topic in the reasoning book, conversation stoppers.
well, did they actually work against you or for you?.
are there conversation stoppers that you use now at your place of work or the bar, or with your significance other, that you use?.
-
cult classic
Very rarely and they're no different than the workarounds that many salespeople/advertisers use.
All those conversation stopper workarounds did was make the publishers feel as if they weren't doing enough to save people.

I remember growing up with all the speculation about the king of the north and south. What wasted energy.

ROFL Moshe. That is a good point!
I only watched one episode of lost about a week ago because my brother was over. He, my sister and dad were into it and said the first and last seasons were the ones to watch. That it was too drawn out, but they wanted to know the meaning of it all.
